This is not about the comfort of your child but your sanity. I name the Aston Rapide, where your wonderful kids can punch you in the nape region when annoyed.

Two seaters.

Anything with a nice interior.

Anything that you don't want snot, germs, and possibly shit in.

One can always utilize the trunk space.

Any car you care about. Get something you won't be upset about when your six year old son shoves a pencil through the upholstery because, well, just because. (this happened on a ride home from the dealership with new car).

So the only car suitable for children is this then?

Anything with two seats, and that includes single-cab pickups. When I was a kid, my mom had to sit on the floor anytime we took my dad's Ranger somewhere as a family.

It was a first generation Impreza. I think it was the first year the impreza came out. it was a four door small family wagon. A few weeks later my wife drove it into a garage with bikes on the roof rack. This car was doomed from the beginning. We go many years out of it, but it didn't look good when we were done with it.

You and I have very different concepts of what "car" means.

I was thinking more along the lines of a police Crown Vic or Suburban with the plastic backseat and the cage seperator, but that works too.

Any family sedan! Come on, parents, can you get any more BORING?!

I come from a family where my dad didn't have to give up his sports cars for a family car. He left that up to my mother.

MY mother's cars (since I was born)
1980s Mustang II (or something)
early 1990s Taurus
late 1990s Taurus
2004 Camry
2011 Camry Hybrid

My Dad's cars (since I was born)
Early 1980s Toyota Supra
Late 1980s Toyota Supra
1993.5 Toyota Supra (naturally aspirated)
Finally sold the 1970 Boss 302 Mustang in the early 1990s
2002 Porsche 911 Carrera
2012 Ford Mustang Boss 302

there were also a coupe of vans, a 2005 Ford Windstar and a 2004 Toyota Sienna.

I have NEVER said "Let's go for a ride in the Camry!!!" or "Let's take the van for a spin!"

Thats a cool list! And you are right about boring cars, but this list is about cars that when coupled to children can make life hell.

A cousin of mine had an Impreza sedan with a roof rack. One Thanksgiving he came over to visit and took out our basketball hoop with the bike on the rack. A few years later when he got his first home with a garage he peeled the rack off the roof by trying to drive into the garage with the bike on the rack.

Those racks can do some damage when they get torn off like that. I know Yakima used to sell a magnetic sign you could put on hood in front of the driver. It read "bikes on roof" and was spring loaded so when you were driving the wind would hold it down, and when you slowed it would pop up and remind you. I never bought one but wish I had.
